Preparing to Enroll

By now you should have received an email from our office with the dates and times for first year registration on August 12th, 2009. As you prepare yourself to begin your legal education, there are few details you will need to attend to prior to enrolling at CUA Law.

Official Final Transcripts: If you have not already done so, please send an official final transcript from your undergraduate degree granting institution. The American Bar Association mandates that all incoming first-year law students complete this requirement prior to registration. Please request your transcript as soon as possible to meet the registration day deadline of August 12. Please note that the transcript you previously submitted to the Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS) does not fulfill the ABA requirement; an official copy must be mailed directly from your undergraduate institution to: The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, Office of Admissions, Cardinal Station, Washington, D.C. 20064.

Housing: A number of on-campus and off-campus housing resources are available at http://law.cua.edu/admissions/housinginformation.cfm. Many of you have also been introduced to our Housing Coordinator, Matt Minora. If you require assistance, please contact Mr. Minora at cualawhousing@gmail.com. You may also call him at (202) 319-5151.

Health Insurance: Full-time students are required by the University to maintain health insurance.  CUA has contracted with UnitedHealthCare to provide a plan for students who are not otherwise covered.  If you enroll in the CUA plan, the Office of Student Accounts will add the annual premium of $1,277 to your student account. If you have satisfactory coverage through another carrier, you must waive the CUA plan to avoid the charge to your account. Part-time students may voluntarily enroll in the CUA plan. Additional information on plan details and waiver requirements can be found at: http://studentinsurance.cua.edu/ Please note that the waiver forms for the 2009-2010 term will not be available until mid July.

Immunizations: If you are under 26 years of age at the time of registration on August 11, you must demonstrate proof of immunization. You can find the immunization form at this link: http://health.cua.edu/ImmunizForm_09.pdf Please return to the form to Health Services at the address noted at the bottom of the form: The Catholic University of America, Student Health Services, 620 Michigan Ave., N.E., Washington, DC 20064. Please disregard the July 1, 2009 deadline stated on this Immunization Record. The deadline for law students is August 1. It is critical for you to have the form completed by August 1 or a late fee of $100 will be assessed to your account. If you do not demonstrate proof of immunization before Registration Day on August 12, University Health Services personnel will be present at Registration to administer the necessary immunizations and you will be billed for the service.

Financial Aid:  Please direct any questions regarding financial aid to our Director of Financial Aid, David Schrock. Mr. Schrock may be reached at (202) 319-5143 or via e-mail at schrock@law.edu.

Should you have additional questions after you have reviewed this information, please do not hesitate to contact us in the Office of Admissions at (202) 319-5151 or by email at admissions@law.edu.
